“Lydspil” was written in collaboration with Alexandra Hallén. It is an interactive concert-installation for all ages.
It was written for flute, cello, percussion and electronics but can be played by other instruments as well.
It was first performed at Big Bang Festival in Børnekulturhus Amar in August 2021 – by Julius Ditlevsen, flute; Ying-Hsueh, percussion; Alexandra Hallén, cello; and Mette Nielsen, song.
“Lydspil” translates as “Sound Game”. Children are invited to draw their own graphic scores which will then be interpreted by the musicians. On the floor are dots in different colours, representing different pitches. When you walk on them, musicians will follow you and play what you walk. You can also play your own sounds on various objects hanging around the building or visit the echo room.
As the day progresses, the piece will change by including more and more of the children’s drawings. Any time you visit, there will be sound in the installation.
