“Når aftenklokken ringer” (“When the evening bell chimes”) was written for and first performed by Århus Sinfonietta at my debut concert “Sange når aftenklokken ringer” (“Songs when the evening bell chimes”) in 2017.

Songs from the musicians’ childhood are used as material for the piece, mostly played without specific pitches and used as a kind of framework for the piece.

The piece is written in four parts, which were spread throughout the concert as the glue, that held it all together. In the piece, the conductor moves between two groups of musicians and a chair in the middle. His movements conduct the change between open and fixed notation in the two groups.
